Naming tigers is common practice not just in Panna but in tiger reserves across India. Some are named for specific physical features; others earn their monikers based on behavioural traits and sighting patterns.
One of the most popular tigers, known as Machli worldwide, was officially T-16 of the Ranthambore National Park. The 19-year-old became the poster child for the government’s tiger conservation programme.
[…] When Machli passed away, it wasn’t just the forest officials who mourned—visitors and residents from nearby villages did too. She was given a respectful funeral: her body covered in flowers and carried by forest officials to be buried.*
“She had been sick for a while before she died, but she had shown grit and survived [illnesses] before. We thought she would fight this illness too, but she didn’t,” said Sudharshan Sharma, who was the divisional forest officer at Ranthambore Tiger Reserve at the time. He added that her passing felt like a personal loss for the forest staff.
This might sound like a heartwarming relationship between a tigress and her guardians, but it’s for this very reason that government and wildlife experts advise against naming wild animals.
In fact, the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) prohibits the practice of naming tigers.
Officially, tigers in India are assigned a unique code—a combination of letters and numbers. The letter corresponds to the reserve where the tiger is located, followed by their number in the sequence of birth or identification.
[…] “The tiger conservation project, or any wildlife conservation project, needs to be carried out scientifically and objectively. When you start attributing human-like qualities to wild animals, conservation decisions can become biased,” said a senior official from the Union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC).
He acknowledged that Machli once became an ambassador for India’s tiger conservation efforts, but said that now that the tiger population has remained stable for the past few years, it’s a good time to move away from the practice.
Despite strict instructions to local forest officials to avoid naming the inhabitants of their reserves, the practice continues. For officials and local residents, it is just an easier way to identify the tigers and build an aura around them—something that helps attract tourists.
*This is incorrect. Machli was cremated to avoid bounty hunters stealing her body parts.

agni is thrilled to find out that you want to learn hindi. he takes a lot of pride in his language and his culture, so when he discovers that you want to engage in it as well, he is happy to share it with you.
however, he’s a serious teacher. agni takes your education seriously, like it’s an actual class. even though you just wanted to learn hindi for fun and mostly to make him happy, agni makes sure you’re disciplined in learning it. you have lessons almost every day without fail, and he assigns you little quizzes and gives you homework assignments every day as well. you even have tests for agni to assess your knowledge so he knows exactly what to correct you on. truthfully it is exhausting, but agni doesn’t believe in letting you quit. you said you wanted to learn Hindi so damn it he’s going to make sure you do.
agni is just as gentle as he is strict, though. whenever you mess something up he quickly cuts you off and points out your mistake, and will carefully explain why it’s wrong and what the correct answer is. he isn’t like those teachers who snap at you for getting things wrong. whenever you pass a test he gives you, he’ll think of little rewards for you to receive later in order to keep you motivated. agni also emphasizes the importance of getting proper rest, so even if he has given you assignments, if you don’t finish them he doesn’t force you to stay up if you’re tired or sick. if you bring him an unfinished assignment the next lesson, agni will simply go through whatever you didn’t finish with you. agni is really encouraging as well, and whenever you get frustrated he’s quick to cheer you up and remind you of your goal.
𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐚
soma thinks it’s really sweet that you want to learn Hindi, and volunteers immediately to help you learn! is it an excuse to show of something that he finally does better than you? perhaps… but it also an excuse to spend more time with you? maaaaaybe…
unfortunately, he’s a seventeen-year-old kid who turns out to not be the best teacher. soma’s method of teaching you is literally just speaking fluent hindi and making exaggerated gestures to you- more like at you- and somehow expecting you to figure out what he’s saying. also, he gets kind of frustrated easily- he definitely doesn’t have the same level of patience as agni does, but he has twice the ego- so most of your ‘lessons’ with him go along these lines:
“*insert soma speaking fluent hindi*”
“soma, i have no idea what you’re saying.”
*cue flabbergasted look from soma* “what do you mean? i made gestures in order to show to you what i meant.”
“i… don’t think that’s how that works. i just started learning, soma. how about you look at the books i’m studying and see if you can help me with the lessons the book gives me?”
*slightly annoyed expression from soma* “but i am the one who fluently speaks hindi. this book cannot speak at all!” *dramatically closes book* “if you simply listen and pay attention closely, i am sure you will soon be as good as i am.”
“but you were born in india. you’ve been speaking hindi since birth. i can’t possibly reach your level that quickly… i don’t see why you can’t just help me with the book that starts with the basics-”
“oh! then why do i even bother?” *dramatically stands up* “i see you have chosen a mere book over your dearly beloved friend. so be it, my friend- so be it.” (imagine him delivering this as if he was some soap opera character who just was betrayed. yeah, he’s really over the top.)
eventually agni steps in and convinces a sulking soma that he needs to be more patient with you because you’re no expert- and more importantly set aside his ego. soma will realize the error in his ways and again decide to help teach you. of course, something similar to the above conversation usually takes place during your lessons in the beginning, but every time soma gets more patient. soon he’s actually pretty good at teaching you, and soma realizes that he genuinely enjoys watching you progress in your learning. he’s also super thrilled whenever you translate something correctly or memorize words right. the amount of impatience he had earlier is the same amount of pride he feels whenever he successfully teaches you something. you guys both start to genuinely look forward to hindi lessons together.
𝐩𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐫
pavitr, like the other two, is happy to hear that you’re interested in learning his native language, and he’s quick to volunteer as your teacher. although to be honest, he isn’t the most patient either. he tries, he really does, and it’s not like he gets genuinely mad or anything, but why would you say chai tea when it’s literally just chai that’s like saying tea tea like what the fuck man
alright, i swear that’s the only time i’ll make a chai tea joke because it physically pains me how much the atsv fandom dickrides that damn joke. but anyways pavitr is a genuinely good teacher besides the slight lack of patience. but it is slight. he’s really encouraging and makes sure you don’t get down on yourself when you make a mistake. pav is insistent, though, that you don’t miss any lessons. his schedule is already unpredictable, but he knows that you are serious about learning hindi and he wants to help you achieve that goal. so pav wants you to show up to your lessons that he schedules because he isn’t sure of when he can schedule another one.
although here’s something funny that i totally think pav would do: if you’re both spider-people on a mission together, he’ll give you quizzes on what you’ve studied with him so far as you guys are literally like swinging in the air above literal skyscrapers and flying over hundreds of people. just imagine this:
*whizzing by you* “hey, y/n! quick- what’s hello and goodbye in Hindi?”
*flipping in the air* “namaste!”
*running up a building* “very good! now what’s good morning in hindi?”
*running right behind pav* “shub prabhat?”
“great!” *throws himself off building and glides through the air* “now what is ‘phir melenge’ in english?”
*shooting webs onto walls, almost misses one* “shit! um, is it see you later?”
“careful with the webs!” *flying through the air* “and what’s tea in hindi?”
“…chai.” (okay that’s the last time ever i swear.)
“you’ve got it now!”

Hey hi! I saw your post about Capricorn season & Akephalos and you mentioned Asklepios. May I ask if you could please explain the association? I don't know anything about the topic and I feel really dumb asking for this.
Thank you if you'll answer, and have a great 2025!
Sure.
I'm going to have to go into a lot of detail here on the astronomy that underlies the astrology.
You may have seen some bits and bobs from time to time about how "NASA says the astrologers are wrong because there are thirteen signs in the Zodiac! They forgot Ophiuchus!" And that's bullshit, because there are — and always have been — only twelve signs.
But signs and constellations are not the same thing. Signs are zones of abstract latitude in the sky, while constellations are mappings of star-groups. It may be helpful to think of signs as sectors of 30° units of latitude — which, is, say, the east-west distance from London to Estonia, or New York City to western Nebraska, or from say, Sydney Australia to Singapore. Note that I'm not talking about the north-south axis at all or the diagonal "as the crow flies" distance... just the "width" on the map, as it were. So that's signs.
Constellations, on the other hand, are more like countries with fixed borders. And it is true that there are more constellations in the Zodiac than there are signs. I think there are fifteen? — the twelve constellations for which the signs are named, plus Ophiuchus, Orion, and Cetus... and while Ophiuchus DEFINITELY crosses the line of the Ecliptic (the Sun's apparent path across the sky month to month), Orion and Cetus just-just touch it, although I'm not an expert on exactly how astronomers draw the sector lines of the 88 official constellations, and when it comes to the little corners and edges of Orion and Cetus, they might touch the line of the Ecliptic in some years and in other years they might not. And I don't know if they drew the constellation lines for rational reasons, or if it was more like for politically charged reasons like drawing the Radcliffe Line separating India from Pakistan in 1947...
Anyway.
We're left with one constellation that DOES cross the Ecliptic, but IS NOT a sign: Ophiuchus.
Now, Ophiuchus is "the snake handler". And a large number of ancient sources agree that the snake-handler in question is Asklepios or Asclepius the physician-god of ancient Greece (and sometimes called "Paion" because that's the name of the healer with the Achaean army in Homer's Iliad). The ancient astronomer/astrologer Marcus Manilius associates 'the bright star of Ophiuchus" with poisons, with medicines, and with protection from illness; and other ancient texts, some by anonymous authors, credit the star Ras Alhague (sometimes one word, Rasalhague, also α Ophiuchi, the brightest star of Ophiuchus... all the same thing ) with the profession ιατρων, (Latinized to iatron)... that is "healer" or "physician" or "doctor" (a doctor who uses astrology in their practice is called an ιατρωμαθεματκοσ, iatromathimatikos, or "healer who uses [star-]math").
Today, Ras Alhague is usually assigned to 22° Sagittarius in the tropical Zodiac — which is to say that for astrological purposes, we're ignoring the fact that it's considerably north of the ecliptic, and we're pretending it's on the ecliptic. The Sun will usually be at 22° Sagittarius on or about the 14-15th of December each year, and that means that the Sun and Rasalhague will rise at about dawn, together.
But of course, any star that is conjunct the Sun at dawn will be invisible.
It takes about 10 to 12 days from that conjunction for Ras Alhague to be visible, just above the horizon, just before dawn, in the Northern Hemisphere, which means around the time that the Sun reaches 5° Capricorn, the middle of Capricorn I (which runs 0° Cap 00' to 9° Cap 59').
It also takes the Sun about ten days (sometimes nine, sometimes eleven, usually about ten) to travel a distance of 10°. By the 2nd century AD, at least, the Greek-speaking population of Alexandria had come to associate every ten-day period in the year with a deity that helped people on Earth, and usually included a celebration or festival of that deity during that ten day period.
And so, sometime between the Winter Solstice (December 21) and the modern New Year (January 1), keen-eyed skywatchers would have seen Ras Alhague rise in the east — the head of Ophiuchus the snake-charmer, the god Asklepios — and would know that it was time for the physician-god festival.
A few days later — roughly January 1 to January 10 — almost all of the constellation of Ophiuchus will be above the horizon before the Sun rises. And this is associated with Hygeia, the goddess of Health. Some myths call her the wife of Asclepius, some call her his daughter, some call her his mother. Either way, they're a pair — and they ruled over the twenty-day period between the Winter Solstice and the rough mid-point of January. Among the 36 minor deities of Greek religion that ruled the 36 decans of ancient astrology, they're one of just two pairs of husbands-and-wives that are consecutive (the other is Hades and Persephone, who rule from the Spring Equinox to about April 10).
Now... I'll dive into a little UPG here, and add that I've found that working with Asklepios and Hygeia on health and healing matters has been very helpful, but hasn't turned me into a doctor (or even an iatromathimatikos). Watching their healing power go out into the world today feels a bit like reiki, but a) it's not the same thing, although it's similar, and b) it's definitely not coming from me. I've also found that it's very snake-y or serpent-y... that is, it winds and coils rather than moving along straight or diagonal lines; and it has lots of whorls and eddies in it. It also has a very specific color associations, which I'll not reveal here, but which serves as a 'key' if you will, to when you've made 'contact' with the same thing I see.
Your mileage may vary.
How to work with this? Wait for a planet to be conjunct 22° Sagittarius, or wait for a planet to be in 0°-9°59' Capricorn, or wait for either position/region to be on or about the Ascendant (eastern horizon) or at the MC (midheaven) of an astrological chart. And then reach out, respectfully, with prayer and meditation, to see if Asclepius will speak with you about a health matter.
Be cautious about following the advice that arises here.

(charithra chandran | cis female | she/her) — was that gauri ‘gwenog’ jones passing through diagon alley? those close to them say they remind them of a drive that was terrifying if not mesmerizing, the smell of freshly cut grass, eager to slip into a pair of trainers and go sprinting, up in the wee hours of the morning practicing till her body couldn't push no more, a daughter who would do anything for the happiness of her family, the fire of a captain who was willing to do anything for glory, which i suppose seems to fit that slytherin alumnus. they’re actually pretty unrelenting, atheletic, and loyal for a twenty-six year old, but i wonder if it serves them well when working as an beater and captain of the Holyhead Harpies, rumour has it that the pureblood is neutral now. i wouldn’t have guessed… but this is a conversation we should be having somewhere else.

FAMILY HISTORY
Adithan and Ishitha Jones were a daring pair of curse-breakers who found themselves in all corners of the world, they had chosen careers that were outside of their norm, outside of generational expectations that often felt like a shackle that was hard to break. They had spent most of their life in Wales before deciding to take an assignment in India, one that led them back into the arms of their parents and created a home where they would spend the next seven years welcoming their bundles of joy – Avantika had been a surprise, the kind that came during a dry winter, a lull in their careers, a simple break had turned into one of the most exciting missions of their lives. Bhavana had been planned is what they would claim if anyone asked, Avantika was in desperate need of a playmate, one that would keep her company as they whisked away on an adventure that helped them realize how much they missed their girls. Gauri was their last, born on a humid summer night in Chennai – she was the final daughter and missing piece in their set of three.
The Jones had never cared that they had three daughters - to them, their girls were as precious as life and every one of them had a spark that they knew could light up the very world, but it was Gauri’s birth that was the final nail in the coffin. It was the condolences from those they knew, people they once called friends - what his parents were trying to defend as reassurances that they could try with the next one - that they would have a son in no time. It was that environment that reminded the duo as to why they spent so much of their life in Wales, it was not that it lacked discrimination amongst the magical community, but their daughters would get the opportunities - to be treated with the value that they deserved. Adithan and Ishita didn’t need more children - their girls were more than enough.
The family soon found themselves back in Wales when Gauri was just shy of two. Gauri knew it was a privilege to grow up in a home filled with laughter and dreams that could reach the sky let alone be taken seriously. She had just turned six when she had been playing around with her mother’s old broom, clinging to it for dear life as their babysitter’s shrilly screams begged for her to find her way back to the ground, at least she had common sense to not try to use her wand to get her back done, the seventeen-year-old was not ready to deal with the consequences of that backfiring. That’s how her father found her – he had found himself back from a two-week assignment to his youngest balanced on a broom and whipping around with glee, the babysitter’s apologies had gone in one ear and out the other as he realized that Gauri had found her gift.
LIFE AT HOGWARTS
Despite being the youngest of the clan, Gauri easily had the biggest personality out of the three, and truly that was something considering her eldest sister had every intention of becoming a singer and while their middle sister had every intention of dressing them to the nines for the rest of their lives – Gauri lived and breathed quidditch. If she had it her way, she would spend her years playing the game she loved, but as her mother always reminded them - you need an education, your dreams will be there no matter what, but they needed to build their skills in other avenues of their life.
The hat had barely touched her head when it had declared SLYTHERIN - which wasn’t too much of a shock considering her mother had also shared the same fate. She knew it was her ambition and her need to excel that landed her in the emerald robes. A blooming flower that often garnered the attention of most - lively - it was her sharp tongue that earned her the respect she demanded. She had fought her way onto the quidditch team in her second year, flying in circles till they were willing to humour her, the first time she held a bat - her first strike during her first match, it all felt like home.
She had been seven when her nanna took her to her first Holyhead Harpies match – just as excited as she was to show her the dream that he knew she wanted - every year for her birthday, they would always find themselves at a match, and it was not just the enjoyment of the games - no, they were there to observe strategy and resilience and gain the gameplay that she needed to earn the title of youngest captain in her fourth year. It didn’t matter that she was only fifteen – her team knew how dedicated she was, how she spent her weekends practising, even during her off-season.
Gauri wasn’t the best at school - she was dedicated to not disappointing her mother and she knew she had to keep up her grades to remain on the team and even be considered, her minimal talent in charms came to light when one injury that nearly killed her career before it started had her desperate – charming a bludger in attempt to keep their winning streak, she had failed miserably, she wasn’t even able to uncurse it and by salazar, she would rather let her failure remain hidden in a statue than ever admit that her vulnerability led her to be a poor sportsman.
It was a lesson she took in quiet stride, swearing to never resort to tricks again - Gauri or Gwenog was what her parents thought might work better on a banner, her player name - which as far as she was concerned was ridiculous, her true fans would know what to call her and that dream came to life when she signed her contract with the Holyhead Harpies right after graduation.
POST - HOGWARTS
She was nine years into her career - a veteran and the fear captain, even with her success and watching her family celebrate their success and hers, it never got old. She was going to play the game she loved for as long as she could. The only thing that terrified her now, was something that she couldn’t ignore - the political climate.
She knew the values that her parents had enforced - they didn’t tolerate discrimination, and they did everything they could to make sure their girls grew up knowing that their options were endless, sitting back idly - protecting her career, it was eating away at her in moments that she allowed herself to think about it. She knew it was only matter of time before she had to make a choice –

WANTED CONNECTIONS
Her tribe  - OPEN
Partners in crime - the people that gave her a sense of home, she could lie to her family - even to herself, but she could never lie to them. Can be friends from school - housemates, they’ve been through the thick of it together. Good influences - bad influences - it didn’t matter, they were family.
Her siblings (Avantika Jones & Bhavana Jones - names can 100 % be changed, same thing with careers) - OPEN
Yes, I'm out here begging for Jones siblings - I imagined Avantika being the driven hardass, who tends to colour outside of the lines but has no problem keeping her sisters in check as best as the oldest child could. Bhavana is chaos despite being the middle child - she is the best liaison between the sisters, very much organized chaos.
The one who got away/ the one that never really left - Dirk
Gauri had always been a girl with a one track mind, she had one true love and for the longest time, she thought her heart had space for only her family and the game. The first time she saw them had been on the very sacred ground of the pitch, they had helped her with target practice and it wasn’t long before she was smitten like a kitten. She was stubborn, she didn’t think she could have both and she wrote them off – she couldn’t jeopardize her dream and now that she had it all - even if it was first infatuation or what her sisters called love - it still hurt just like it was yesterday
Best friends who tried to be more - i wasn't supposed to lose you - Narcissa
She used to think she knew exactly what she wanted and who she wanted but they had her questioning who she was and what was really in her heart. they were the best of friends - they were her rock when she needed to feel grounded and they could talk for hours without gauri ever feeling like was losing time. what she hadn't expected was the tug for more, from how one innocent holding of hands turned into a kiss that had her wanting more. she hadn't learned the first time that she wasn't sure if she had anything in her heart to give and like she knows best, she broke another person she loved. enough to lose a friend - enough to not see them for years.
Friends who aren’t friends anymore – OPEN
I know we tend to call it friends turned enemies, but I don’t think enemies is the right word - Gauri in a friendship tends to give a part of herself to that person, there’s love there and even when distance is created and you’re not what you used to be - that love just doesn’t go away - it lingers and it’s painful because you’re staring at a near stranger, but you can never not care about them. She can 100% be at fault for the distance.
Quidditch Sisters - Adelina
I’m begging for some Holyhead Harpies sisters - this would be her chosen family as well, they spend nearly every day during the Quidditch season together and even when it’s off-season, she can’t be apart from them for too long.
Someone to Mentor - Shawna
She’s in her era of giving back – she had the best influences and a family that did everything to get her where she is today, she wants to share the love and build the next extraordinary generation of female quidditch players
The Order - recruiter - OPEN
She has been keeping her nose out of anything she thought could bring trouble to her doorstep, especially during the season, but with everything that is happening - she can’t ignore the looks or those who speak of making a difference. Maybe she in a place to hear someone out
Death Eaters - recruiter - OPEN
Gauri had been neutral and even if she weren’t - she was certainly leaning toward the Order but the world didn’t know that. Maybe she's being approached from the other side as well.
&&& any other plot you can give me … PLS AND THANK YOU <3

What do you do to be anti caste in praxis
tricky question, idk how to answer this properly. i'll go for it in as practical a way as possible:
participating in public culture method: i'm a phd student, and yes, the student unions in india have really suffered in the last few years, but i was and am part of my previous university's union as well as my current one. i will admit this isn't a perfect answer to participating in public culture, because i do have it easy. i'm generally privileged, and yes, while it was very difficult going against my whole family during some of the movements and protests and putting my future on the line a few times, i still have it a lot easier than many people who come from more marginalised backgrounds. jnu also had some ready political parties for me to support (my particular favourite was BASO and BAPSA), but i think there are many parties that do organise on anti-caste lines, no matter how problematic they are. i have some issues with Chandrashekhar Azad in relation to gender and sexuality, but on the whole, Bhim Army does some decent work. i'd love to vote for BSP (as i am from UP some of this might be related to UP) but i fear they have very little chance of winning, and the situation in UP is very bet on a horse that has a chance right now. i think this is one of the most obvious ways to get policy changes started, if nothing else, which is why i think it is actually important to participate in public culture. i know everyone can't do it, but i make it a point to go home to vote for every major election. however, i also know this is very tricky for people depending on where they are in life. i had very little agency when i was in undergraduate, but i have more now, so that helps.
helping people around you method: this is trickier because it has involved a lot of serious unlearning on my end, because i was and am casteist in ways that show up, and this is the part that really involves making friends with people who are explicitly Not Like Me. and that also means i have to be a friendly, caring, and generally kind individual or no one will want to be friends with me. but this is also one of the best methods - once you are perceived as generally kind and caring by your peers, they are more open about what they might need, and then you can REALLY use your caste privilege for support. and i don't want to say this like an upper caste saviour or anything, but you can really use your privilege to amplify other people's needs and wants. like a bulwark?? you know what i mean. one of the reasons why i ended up on the forefront of negotiations with my teachers was because i was an upper caste girl who generally spoke well and had the privilege to not back down. it was mostly very straightforward things, like my friends not having access to decent internet during the pandemic and needing extensions on all their assignments, but this is something that was doable and we managed it together (literally i remember as i composed messages on one chat with the teachers, i had ann and huda going off on the side about what else we could say and we strategised together. good times). helping the people around you is also one of the easiest ways to learn more: i have a friend for whom i have done a lot of free editing over the years and it's usually dalit studies related, and when i say the research makes you rethink your whole life, the urban employment market, and also your worldview, i really mean it. and of course, this goes without saying, but being generally kind to everyone around you. this is also one of the best and most foolproof ways to make lifelong friends and i think that's just an added bonus of being anti caste, because it DOES give you a fuller life and more caring people around you. and this might sound a bit kitschy and cute, but i am fundamentally of the belief that all praxis and change has to be rooted, intrinsically, in love for the people around you. which is why this method is the one that has been the most fulfilling for me, personally.
talking to my relatives method: the details of which really vary from person to person, but @metamatar has a handy guide here, and i also really like doing something funky with mine (my parents, i mean), which is to make them follow the lack of resources. for example, i was giving an interview at EFLU for the phd seats and when my dad said i must not have gotten it because of reservations, i just said, well there were two seats total because of major fund cuts in education. its not reservations thats the problem but the lack of resources as a whole. this is generally a REALLY good method because it highlights the unfairness of the nation state in one go as well. of course, some relatives are too far gone, but the least you can do (i have found) is criticise them openly so they don't feel comfortable saying that shit around you. i also really like sending counter articles on family groups. once my Maama had sent some nonsense about the farm laws, and instead of debating him i sent a wire article on how the farm laws weren't even just about the farmers. this is, unfortunately, the least rewarding method, but i fear it is also the most absolutely essential.
the method that is most difficult, which is changing how you think method: i have said it before, but of course i haven't unpeeled the layers of conditioning that are still part of me. i think things that generally help me in this is always following the trail of money and labour in the world around me, and seeing where it is rooted. you'd be surprised at how many things are just casteist practices disguised as other things if you just put your mind to it a little.
i think the most difficult thing in all of this has been learning that despite all this, i will still, 100% make mistakes. the most important thing for me is to always do my best to fix them, and to make sure no one gets hurt because of my actions, or exploited. the upshot of this is that i have simply lost the uttar-pradesh-given ability to bargain with anyone. no, really. i can't even do it with autowallahs anymore. and janpath?? forget it. if the man says the pants are for 600 i will simply pay him that if i can afford it or walk away. i was literally in sarojini once and the shopkeeper quoted 400 for like, a cute little shrug or something, and i just walked away and he called me back like ma'am???? aren't you supposed to bargain??? then when i didn't he reduced it himself to 300. then when i was like okay, and started to pay him, he was like omg you are so bhola...... give 200 for it jfc. of course he also flirted with me while doing that, which is the sarojini-given right of all shopkeepers. but you see??? i can't bargain anymore. i just can't do it, if someone says this is the price of my labour i either decide i can afford it or i move on.
what was i saying?? yeah i still make mistakes, all the time. i just try to correct them as best as possible.
EDIT: i forgot, but one thing that i have found works for me is to really amplify reading material and voices that are not mine. like, you know, to always recommend work by dalit and bahujan writers, to always read more of it as well?? that stuff

What is Numerology?
Numerology is a pretty old technique that uses numbers to assess the character and destiny of any given person. It can also be used to check the nature of a new pet, business, and anything else with a name and/or a start/birth date. This can also be paired with a simple form of astrology for more accurate predictions, or used on its own. A simple search on the Britannica website for ‘numerology’ will give you an extremely short article. But, I pulled the following quote from there: “The theory behind numerology is based on the Pythagorean idea that all things can be expressed in numerical terms because they are ultimately reducible to numbers.”
However, numerology was practiced in Ancient India (in the Vedas) and China (in the I Ching) which were, coincidentally, before Pythagoras/the Pythagorean Brotherhood’s time. But, since the way Pythagoras taught his method of using numerology seemed to have truly stuck with most other cultures around the world, this way of numerology is the most accessible. The ancient Greeks, Romans, and Hebrews also used number systems based on the letters of their alphabet; but the numbers we have today came from the Arabs.
Let’s get to the fun part!
How do I use Numerology?
So, Numerology in my opinion, is the absolute easiest form of divination. Just remember to take notes as you go, and you’ll be fine!
Or, you can reach out for help from someone you trust that knows numerology; or you can reach out to literally anyone on the internet willing to teach this, but be careful with that one… I believe knowledge should be free, but that’s not the case with a few other people, I’ve heard. So if they ask for a payment, make sure you’ve truly looked at their blog/page. If their vibe doesn’t sit right with you, don’t do it. Money can make good people funny. And not in a good way.
Okay! Let’s get back to this topic. How do I/you use numerology? Super easy. There are two SUPER common types of numbers, and they are usually the first thought in people’s head when they think about Numerology as a whole. They are the Destiny and Life Path numbers!
The difference between these numbers is that the Destiny number shows your life’s purpose and the pattern by which you’ll achieve that, and the Life’s Path number is usually used to make forecasts about one's future.
I’ll make a separate post on what the numbers 1—9 mean, because that’s what we’re going to be working with for right now; but in the meantime, let me explain what you’ll need to figure out your numbers!!
Materials:
Your Full Name
Your Date of Birth
Pen/pencil
Paper
Calculator (optional)
It’s not a super complex mathematical formula that we’ll be using, just some basic addition!
Also!! If you are transgender, or nonbinary; or you’ve changed your name for any reason—PLEASE use the name YOU HAVE CHOSEN for yourself! If you’re comfortable with it too, you can also use the old/dead name to compare the potential outcomes of your life! If you’re not too comfortable with that, don’t sweat it!
Okay, so you’ve got your materials; cool beans, now what? You’re now going to assign the letters of the alphabet numbers!
Instructions:
Write the numbers 1—9 across the width of the paper. So you’re going to write out:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9, making sure they’re spaced out enough to write in columns beneath them and not have things overlapping. For ease of reading!
Put the letters beneath the numbers in the order I have listed:
A,J,S under 1.
B,K,T under 2
C,L,U under 3
D,M,V under 4
E,N,V under 5
F,O,X under 6
G,P,Y under 7
H,Q,Z under 8
I,R under 9.
Now, spell out your FULL NAME!! 1st, middle (if you have it), last and anything after that! You’re now going to add up the numbers! I like to keep my number in three separate rows, so my first name has one, middle the second, and last the third line.. Just for the sake of keeping things readable/not too overwhelming.
My numbers, just because I don’t want to give my full name out on the internet; are:
24, 29, 29. But! We need one number between 1 and 9. If you do 24+29(2)=82, you can then simplify my numbers to: 8+2=10, 1+0=1.
What we did here was we found our Destiny number. Pretty neat right?
Let’s do our life path number as well.
Get your birthday written out, it doesn't matter if you use the UK, US, or any other style of writing out dates, because they will always add up to the same number!
Mine is: 12/20/2003. I’ve got it pretty easy, because there’s a bunch of 0’s in mine and I’m working with small numbers.
1+2+2+0+2+0+0+3=10, 1+0=1. And BOOM! We have our life path number as well.
So, before this post gets crazy long; I hope you have a wonderful day, and I’ll be posting the meanings of the numbers 1—9 with three posts; because I have a lot to say! Bye!!

Feng Shui vs. Vastu Shastra: Harmonizing Your Living Space with Ancient Wisdom
In the quest for creating harmonious living spaces, Feng Shui and Vastu Shastra stand out as two ancient practices rooted in distinct cultural traditions. Feng Shui, originating from China, and Vastu Shastra, from India, both seek to enhance well-being and prosperity but differ in their methodologies and cultural contexts. Understanding their similarities and differences can help you create a more balanced and positive living environment.
Origins and Historical Context
Vastu Shastra: Ancient Indian Wisdom
Vastu Shastra, meaning "science of architecture," is an ancient Indian practice detailed in texts like the Vedas, dating back over 5,000 years. This system integrates architectural principles, spatial geometry, and natural elements to design spaces that enhance positive energy, known as "Prana." Vastu Shastra emphasizes aligning buildings with natural forces to attract beneficial energies and mitigate negative influences.
Feng Shui: Ancient Chinese Practice
Feng Shui, translating to "wind and water," has its roots in China and dates back around 3,000 years. This practice focuses on arranging space to optimize the flow of "Qi" (or "Chi"), the vital force believed to inhabit all things. Feng Shui practitioners aim to create balanced environments through strategic placement of elements, considering factors such as orientation, color, and materials to promote health and prosperity.
Core Principles and Practices
Similarities: Shared Goals and Concepts
Both Vastu Shastra and Feng Shui aim to foster positive energy and well-being in living spaces. Key similarities include:
Energy Flow: Both systems emphasize the importance of energy flow within a space. Vastu uses "Prana," while Feng Shui focuses on "Qi." The arrangement of space is crucial to ensure these energies circulate freely and harmoniously.
Natural Elements: The elemental foundations of Vastu Shastra include earth, fire, water, air, and space, aimed at aligning structures with natural forces. Feng Shui employs a different combination—metal, wood, fire, earth, and water—to enhance the flow of energy within a space. Each tradition values these elements for their impact on creating a balanced and harmonious environment.
Directional Significance: Both systems assign importance to cardinal directions. For example, Vastu Shastra views the north as auspicious due to its association with magnetic energy, while Feng Shui often highlights the south for its sunlight benefits.
Differences: Methodologies and Cultural Context
Despite their common goals, Vastu Shastra and Feng Shui diverge in their approaches:
Architectural Focus vs. Elemental Arrangement: Vastu Shastra often requires structural changes, such as door and window placements, to align with its principles. Feng Shui, however, typically involves non-structural adjustments, like furniture arrangement and decorative elements, to improve energy flow.
Cultural Context: Vastu Shastra is deeply embedded in Indian culture, incorporating Hindu and Buddhist beliefs. In contrast, Feng Shui is rooted in Chinese cosmology and philosophy, which includes various metaphysical concepts and practices.
Remedial Practices: The remedies suggested by each system vary. Vastu might recommend specific plants (like Tulsi) or religious symbols (such as Ganesh idols), while Feng Shui may suggest items like wind chimes or the Laughing Buddha to enhance positive energy.
Application in Modern Architecture
Vastu Shastra in Home Design
In modern architecture, Vastu Shastra is used to design homes that align with natural energies. To align with Vastu Shastra, placing the kitchen in the southeast corner of the house is recommended, as it corresponds with the fire element, enhancing the kitchen’s functionality and energy. The northeast corner, on the other hand, is considered optimal for a prayer room, promoting spiritual growth and a peaceful atmosphere.
These principles are applied to optimize the flow of energy and create a harmonious living environment.
Feng Shui in Interior Design
Feng Shui principles are increasingly integrated into contemporary interior design to enhance Qi flow. Practitioners focus on arranging furniture and decor strategically—using mirrors to reflect light, selecting colors that correspond to specific elements, and placing plants to infuse vitality into the space. The aim is to create a balanced environment that supports health and happiness.
Conclusion
The relationship between Feng Shui and Vastu Shastra highlights a universal quest for balance and harmony in our living spaces. Although these ancient practices originate from different cultural backgrounds and use distinct methodologies, they both offer valuable insights into creating environments that promote well-being and prosperity. By understanding and applying the core tenets of both Vastu Shastra and Feng Shui, you can design homes that not only reflect your personal style but also align with natural forces, ultimately leading to a more harmonious and fulfilling life.
Integrating these principles into modern architecture and design provides a unique opportunity to cultivate spaces that resonate with positive energy and enhance the quality of life. Whether you lean towards Vastu Shastra’s architectural precision or Feng Shui’s strategic arrangement, both offer paths to creating spaces that foster a sense of peace and balance.

It's hard being a "Gifted" kid growing up to be "average"
*TW*: rant, possibly swears
I don't wanna come off as arrogant or anything but I've been a smart or atleast academically good kid growing up, all throughout my life till 10th I never used to actually sit down and study for shit, just used to act for some hours as a kid to avoid angering my parents and lose my access to my hobbies and such.
Idk, but it just used to "work out", all I used to do was pay attention in classes, read the textbooks because I found them interesting, or just learn about concepts that eventually end up helping my knowledge of the ones I need in school, and probably just binge lectures or such on YouTube one day before my exams, and ended up scoring well enough.
But then came class 11th, when the difficulty spiked so hard that it's no longer enough to simply "get through it" without any kind of self study, the 10+2 standards required hardwork, which I surely lacked.
I then just realised that I don't even know how to fucking study, like even when i search online it's just the shit like "make a routine","don't procastinate","make notes","pay attention in lectures", and especially "solve questions".
like bitch could you actually just simply tell me a proper process or system on how could i fucking study, wtf you mean by "solve questions", do i just write them down and then try to solve, and if couldn't then check the solution and copy that, bitch how's that supposed to help, and even if it did, you understand how time taking that is??
And don't fucking get me started on the amount of expectations people begin to have on you just because you scored good enough on some classes that don't fucking matter at all(*looking at you 10th boards), like we're already under sheer pressure and there's this burden of expectations now??
And the fact that they "don't think you'll need help" because you're "smart" and will "figure it out anyway", like mf why tf are you there then?
Even the stupid education system that we have in India, there's neither education nor a system in this shit, it's just a game of memorization, no practical applications at all, but they still have the audacity to say they're "preparing you for the real world".
The real world won't demand shit like the bullshit projects or assignments you give our, and neither would you be expected to just "know" every info. Like for example the formulas and stuff to calculate something.
